Product Description
The Homedics QRM-400 Quad Roller Massaging Cushion with Traveling
Shiatsu Massage lets you enjoy deep, relieving massages in the comfort
of your own home. Thanks to breakthrough technology that provides
a real massage chair mechanism in a convenient, easy-to-use cushion,
you'll be able to reap the health benefits of massage whenever you
need them. An advanced microprocessor lets you choose six different
programs of targeted relief.
The command track control allows you to adjust the roller width
with a touch of a button so the massage custom-fits your body. With
the Shiatsu and Rolling massage options, four independent rollers
travel up and down your back in a soothing motion that helps relieve
tired and aching muscles. The spot Shiatsu massage allows you to
pinpoint certain areas by holding the massage action just where
you need it. Plus the vivid LED illuminates the massage mechanism.
Thanks to the integrated strapping system, the cushion comfortably
fits your favorite chair. The demo button on the handset also makes
it easy for you to try every option before deciding on the best
massage for your body.
Homedics Massager QRM-400 Reviews
Review: Like most of the Homedics products
I own, this massager is a good value. It is at the high end of these
cushion style massagers but it's still a good value compared to
low-end (several hundred dollar) massage chairs like the iJoy. It
actually does shiatsu-style massage, where the massage surface digs
into you and traces out specific paths of movement (usually circular
pattern). Shiatsu has become common in recent years and is a great
improvement over the older vibration-massage cushions. Of course,
this massager doesn't compare to the $3000 massage chairs but how
could it? I noticed that someone already wrote a very detailed and
accurate review, so I won't bother repeating that material. Like
all of the cheaper massage tools, this massager is noisy, so you
won't like it if you are particularly sensitive to noise. The "new-car"
smell can be strong but it does slowly dissipate over time. The
massager has a hard back so the sides may chafe against you (doesn't
bother me, though). If you are not used to massage, very bony, etc.,
this massager may cause brusing and/or discomfort. You should try
it out before you buy, to see if it suits your massage preferences.
The box is huge and mailing in returns won't be easy.
Most people are worried that either the massage is too strong
or too soft. The too-strong complaint can be corrected with additonal
padding (towels, etc.). The too-soft complaint can be partly corrected
by (both I and the manufacturer STRONGLY discourage doing this,
so proceed at your own risk and use common sense): leaning very
agressively against the cushion. I actually lay the thing flat on
my bed mattress and lie on top of it. Again, this is not safe and
will probably shorten the lifespan of the massager. Mine has survived
several weeks of twice daily abuse like this, but proceed at your
own risk.
I don't really appreciate the pretty blue lights on the massager,
which I think were designed for in-store displays. It's not like
the average user will care one way or another. I do believe that
the housing of the lights makes the massage surfaces (the plastic
things that actually do the massage) less robust than they could
be. I think the HoMedics BKK-100 Spot Massage Cushion is a lot more
robust (it's a lot cheaper, too, but it doesn't roll up and down
the back). If you don't need the rolling mechanism and are creative
in positioning cushion just right, it might be a better purchase
than this item. However, I enjoy and recommend both items. They
really do help me relax at the end of a hard, stressful day.
Review: I got this as a Christmas gift and
this is THE best thing I have ever seen ! I love the shiatsu feature.
It really gives you that deep deep massage that really works the
knots. The rolling massage is not as strong, but it gives you a
good firm massage. I am currently recovering from a back injury
& is this providing relief. Plus my orthopedic chiropractor
said it was safe to use. Extra bonus-it automatically shuts off
after 15 minutes, so you WON'T overwork those muscles, causing any
harm. BUY IT - regardless of the slightly high price.
